1:1 Private Yoga
I offer one to one (1:1) (private) sessions, that usually take place at my home yoga studio in St Briavels or online via Zoom. If necessary, these could happen at your home (additional travel charge would apply).
One to one yoga (Private) yoga sessions - why would you want these?
1:1 sessions are individualised to suit you and your needs at the time. In a yoga class, the teacher/instructor facilitates yoga sessions to all participants with differing levels of experience, flexibility and health needs. Although I try to foster conditions where each person is focused only on what is happening “now” and “on their own mat and in their own body”; some feel uncomfortable practicing in view of other students/participants. They might try to position themselves at the back of the class.
If you happen to be of those who would usually stay at the back of the class, you may benefit more from 1:1 instruction. This way, you can focus on learning/experiencing/practicing yoga, rather than worrying about others.
Privacy
As the term one to one (1:1) or private yoga class suggests, you get to practice yoga in the privacy of my yoga studio or your own home. You do not have to be concerned with others.
Undivided Attention
Because it is a 1:1 session, you get the yoga teacher’s sole attention. You may feel less concerned about asking questions etc.

Student-specific Instructions
Each yoga student is unique. In a private yoga class, you can progress at your own pace. Your teacher can also tailor-fit instructions according to your individual needs.
There is Nowhere to Hide
In a group class with other students, the teacher cannot always keep their full attention on everyone. It may feel easy to give up on some poses that you don’t enjoy or think you can’t do. Sometimes, the mind wanders and you miss you miss instructions and end up doing something different from the rest of the class or risking injury. In 1:1 yoga, I will spot this and can prompt a correction or modification.
Personalised Schedule
Some people have such complex schedules that attending a regular class is impossible. Private 1:1, sessions booked at mutually convenient times might be the best solution.

The benefits of one to one sessions in yoga are:
- You are new to yoga, thinking of joining a class and like the idea of a few private sessions to build confidence before joining a group. I can teach you some basics at a pace to suit you.
- Returners to yoga after a long break could benefit from a sessions to re-ignite mind practice.
- One to one sessions are great support on returning from injury or illness.
- Session tailored to your specific needs, preferences, strengths and challenges.
- You may have personal targets you wish to achieve.
- Privacy to comfortably discuss experiences, concerns or worries as they arise.
- Assistance in creating personal home practice.
- Assistance mastering or finding adaptations and modifications for postures.
- Practice of a particular sequence, pose, pranayama or meditation practice of your choice.
- Need for a whole session preparing for and experiencing relaxing.
- Need to shield yourself from infection/viral risk.
- Aversion to group class situations.
